Lower Valley Farm
Thirty-five miles southeast of El Paso, along the Rio Grande River, the Lower Valley Farm offers a unique residential program for boys age 6 to 18. This 500-acre
farm provides a quiet, rural environment away from the distractions of the city. The facility can serve as many as 20 children. Boys work with animals—including peacocks, llamas, and livestock—and participate in productive projects designed to build self-esteem and self-confidence. Daily exposure to non-threatening relationships and guided interactions with trained staff are at the core of this program.
Children who live at the farm attend public school in Fabens, Texas, and may be involved in extracurricular school activities or sports. Children are offered casework services, tutoring, recreational activities, vocational education, a 4-H program and lots of loving adult supervision. Spiritual enrichment is available through local area churches of the family’s choosing.
The primary goals of this program are to teach responsibility, build self-esteem, improve relationship skills, strengthen families, and ultimately return children to their homes. If returning home is not an option, then efforts are made to prepare youth for vocational or college learning opportunities after high-school graduation.
