Pedro’s Story: A Bright Future Ahead

In 2007, Pedro’s mother was deported to Mexico, which divided his family. His father stayed in El Paso with six of the family’s 11 children. Pedro’s father wanted to give Pedro the best education possible and a better living situation than he could provide. He decided to place his son at Lee & Beulah Moor Children’s Home. Pedro was only six years old when he joined the Lee Moor family. He was shy and quiet and would keep to himself. After three years at the Home, you can see a very different Pedro. He is very confident, has many friends, and stays very involved in the program’s activities, especially sports.

When he arrived, Pedro did not speak any English so he was placed in bilingual classes. Today Pedro is reading, talking, and writing in English and he attends monolingual classes at school, where he is making As and Bs.

We are proud of Pedro’s progress and optimistic about his future.
