2012 Chile Pepper Challenge
La Vina Winery
More than 250 cyclists participated in the 62-mile race on Sunday, September 30 during the 31st annual Chili Pepper Challenge bike race. The event, organized by the El Paso Bike Club included some 900 participating riders in five separate events. Proceeds benefited several local organizations, including Lee & Beulah Moor Children's Home, Hospice of El Paso, and Big Brothers, Big Sisters of El Paso.
The children of Lee & Beulah Moor Children's Home did their part by helping to staff a relief station and offer water and snacks to weary riders. Their hard work didn't go unnoticed. Volunteer Terry Campbell with Premier Nationwide Lending, had this to say in a note to Lee & Beulah Moor Children's Home CEO Renee Tanner...
"I cannot tell you how much we enjoyed your group of young men!! They worked so hard, were so helpful to the riders–holding bikes, filling water bottles, passing out nutrition. They were awesome, awesome, awesome. Truly!! I wanted to take everyone one of them home. I think they really enjoyed themselves and enjoyed the R&R back at the winery lawn getting to throw a football around. Such a great time. The ride was the best turnout we have ever had. We usually have about 700 participants and this year we were just shy of 1000! So exciting. I think at our water station one time we had about 100 riders. And the guys took care of everyone!"
"I have attached some pictures that I know they would like to see as well as you. Thanks so much for sharing your guys with us for the day."
A grand time was had by all! We are so grateful to the El Paso Bike Club for all they do for our kids!

The event was an elegant evening that raised $15,560 for Lee & Beulah Moor Children's Home, supporting programs for the children—continued access to compassionate care in a safe, nurturing environment. A big thank you to all who attended. You helped to give kids a chance at a better life by building their self-confidence and teaching self-respect, respect for others, and the importance of taking responsibility for their own decisions and actions. YOU made a life-changing difference for children in need!

Chucotown Rockers
Punky Reggae Party
House of Rock, El Paso
Ernesto Tinajero (center), frontman for Chucotown Rockers, visited Lee & Beulah Moor Children's Home to present a check for $1,800 that was raised at the event.
Every Sunday for months, a loose group of talented musicians from established local bands practiced to put on a special show honoring the late Bob Marley.
They number six bass players, two drummers, four guitarists, horn players, keyboardists and back-up singers. The band's roster was a who’s who of local talent.
“It’s been really good actually,” said the group’s mastermind Ernesto Tinajero, better known as the lead from Radio La Chusma. “There was such a good vibe. We just got along really well. Out of this whole project, at least two or three other projects have started.”
What brought them together? The music of Bob Marley and a great cause. On April 20, the collective–calling themselves the Chucotown Rockers–played a benefit concert for two children’s nonprofits: Lee & Beulah Moore Children’s Home and Hogar de Bethel Orphanage in Juarez.
And they were a smash hit, raising $1,800 for Lee & Beulah Moor Children's Home and an equal amount for the Juarez orphange.
Tinajero, with his main band, has organized local Bob Marley tributes before. But the genesis for this event came from a tribute concert held in Jamaica by the Marley family.
That “One Love” spirit passed through the Chucotown Rockers and straight to the benefit of children in need.
